Happy
Thanksgiving!!
May
the bounty of the season fill your heart and home!
The
year has turned its circle,
The seasons come and go.
The harvest all is gathered in
And chilly north winds blow.
Orchards have shared their treasures,
The fields, their yellow grain,
So open wide the doorway
Thanksgiving comes again!
Giving
Thanks
For
the hay and the corn and the wheat that is reaped,
For the labor well done, and the barns that are heaped,
For the sun and the dew and the sweet honeycomb,
For the rose and the song and the harvest brought home
Thanksgiving! Thanksgiving!
For
the trade and the skill and the wealth in our land,
For the cunning and strength of the workingman's hand,
For the good that our artists and poets have taught,
For the friendship that hope and affection have brought
Thanksgiving! Thanksgiving!
For
the homes that with purest affection are blest,
For the season of plenty and well-deserved rest,
For our country extending from sea unto sea;
The land that is known as the "Land of the Free"
Thanksgiving! Thanksgiving!

Indian
Children
Where
we walk to school each day
Indian children used to play
All about our native land,
Where the shops and houses stand.
And
the trees were very tall,
And there were no streets at all,
Not a church and not a steeple
Only woods and Indian people.
Only
wigwams on the ground,
And at night bears prowling round
What a different place to-day
Where we live and work and play!

First
Thanksgiving
Venison for stew and roasting,
Oysters in the ashes toasting,
Geese done to a turn,
Berries dried and wild grapes seeded
Mixed with dough and gently kneaded
What a feast to earn!
Indian
corn in strange disguises,
Ash cakes, hoe cakes in many sizes,
Kernels roasted brown...
After months of frugal living
What a welcome first Thanksgiving
There in Plymouth town.

Thanksgiving
Day will soon be here
It comes around but once a year
If I could only have my way,
We'd have Thanksgiving every day.
